Reasons Why You Should Consider Wearing Your Natural Hair in Mini Twists This Season

In my two years of being natural, I’ve heard ‘protective styling’ so many times that it has become a part of my frequently used vocabulary. I say it even when I don’t mean to. For example last week, I told a friend of mine to wear his beards in a protective style; what I meant was for him to get a trim. You would think that I wear my hair in a protective style a lot but that’s not the case; I’m more of a low-manipulation-style type of person. Two days ago, I decided to do a protective style so I installed mini twists without any hair extension and I must say that I’ve fallen in love with the hairstyle. Today, I will be sharing with you guys why I think you should consider doing mini twists this season.

One of the most important reasons why mini twist is great is that it is a good protective style when you want to flaunt your hair but still protect it. This hairstyle gives you the opportunity to show your hair’s health while you keep your ends protected from the harsh elements of the atmosphere.

Secondly, it’s very easy to style your hair when you have mini twists on. You can do basically any style that you would normally have done if you were wearing your hair out. This is because the twists are small enough to allow for movement in all directions even if your hair is short.

You know how naturalistas are afraid of rain and getting into the pool for fear of the water destroying their hairstyle? Well, with this hairstyle, water is your friend. Water cannot destroy mini twists, all you have to do is shake your head when you get out of the pool and your hair is as good as new. Now, that’s the part I love the most about mini twists.

Also, with mini twists you can care for your hair as you would have if your hair was out. You can wash, deep condition, moisturise, or even set your hair with less time without worrying about breakage. Lastly, for those of you who love the Rastafarian look, this is a perfect hairstyle for you as you can easily make your hair look like it’s locked. Just make sure you don’t carry the style for too long as it might actually start to lock if you do. I recommend wearing it for a maximum of 2-3 weeks at a time. Be sure to gently and thoroughly detangle your hair when you take down your twists.

Have you ever worn your hair in mini twists? Please share your reasons why you did or didn’t enjoy wearing the hairstyle.
